2020 has been a year of trials and tribulations, with losing loved ones and restricting our movement to meeting up with friends and family, to some losing jobs, to the stress of working from home with your loved ones, and in some cases home schooling as well.

This hasn’t let up for us now in 2021, we find ourselves in a new situation where because of a mutation of the virus, we are facing further lockdowns, and further mental and physical stress.this hasn’t let up for us now in 2021, we find ourselves in a new situation where because of a mutation of the virus, we are facing further lockdowns, and further mental and physical stress.

There has been alot on the news and in the media about families in distress, divorce rates going up, abuse going up, restrictive times due to job losses, hardships with paying bills and food just day-to-day living.
However, it is not all doom and gloom. For some there is the plus side of getting to know your family, your kids and spouse again. For others there is learning new skills, taking time out to develop their mindset and do more reading.

So here are some of my tips that could help in times of distress.

we also need to recognise that our thoughts and feelings especially negative ones can also bring you down even further into depression. If this is the case then you need to seek help from a professional. Don’t be embarrassed to do so, because these are trying times indeed and no one will think any less of you if you need and seek out to support to help get you through

Sometimes stress, good stress is there to prune you, to give you a massive shift in your thinking and in your way of living. Learn to move with the stress, if you fight it, this is when you make yourself and those around you uncomfortable and ill.

1. DECIDE!

Decide how you are going to deal with the issue, don't let it weigh you down, share the burden, let others know and together you may find solutions. Move beyond your comfort-zone and perceived limitations with a firm decision to grow bigger than the sources of your stress.

There are many self help groups that you can look to, try using eventbright, or Facebook, or local zoom meetings on Meetup.com.

2. HAVE FAITH

Having Faith that God / universe is foundational and will give you the confidence to grow beyond your challenges. God will build your life, step by step. He will make a way where there is no way.  Now some people will say GOD or the Universe or Him Above but whatever you believe, trust in it wholeheartedly as this will mentally alleviate some of your burdens.

It is during these times that those who have a little inkling in faith, will start to look more towards their faith or spiritual self to help seek solace.

If you are not into religion, then mediation will help you find your inner spirit, your place of comfort, you place of inspiration to help you get through tough times. As a point here, mediation and prayer helps me to feel closer to my maker, and asking or talking to him through out the day, having a conversation like you would to a parent or friend, for guidance and listen, wait for the response. 3. SPEAK LIFE-WORDS

A generous confession focuses on the positive, and faith-filled expectations will move your life forward. Be intentional with your words; the carnal nature always defaults to the negative.

God has big plans for you, but you won’t fulfil them if you think negative or small inside.
When your capacity increases, what once caused you distress, no longer does. Developing your capacity is an ongoing journey that yields a fulfilling life.
The words that we speak can help us to heal or can destroy us. This includes the words we say to ourselves. And as we listen to ourself constantly each day, it is important to guard the gateway of our thinking.

4.EXERCISE

Physical exercise has been known to release
Stress, and to lower blood pressure, and improve bloodflow to the brain, as well as many other health benefits

Especially when you exercise in nature or outdoors.Just going for a walk, appreciating the air that you are able to breathe, listening to the life that is going on around you in the animal world and in the physical human world.

when we keep ourselves moving it helps with the bloodflow and the circulation as well as with the dopamine levels. Not only does it help keep us in a positive light, it helps to keep us moving forward

5. GIVING GRATITUDE

When you are thankful even for the small things in life, this may lift the cloud that is currently over your head as you realise there is others out there who are in a worse situation than yourself.when you are thankful even for the small things in life, this may lift the cloud that is currently over your head as you realise there is others out there who are in a worse situation than yourself.

Each morning when you wake up give yourself thanks and gratitude for living through the night to see another day.

Try keeping a gratitude log. Each day write down three things that you are grateful for throughout the day, this will also help you to lift your spirits and to also help you reflect when you look back on how thankful you should be for your life and where you are.
